As Active Youth for Europe, we are glad to share our collaboration with the local schools, Istituto Comprensivo Statale Ernesto Borrelli and Petraro. We have interacted with more than 400 students, aged between 8 to 13, throughout the whole school year. Our 3 ESC volunteers from Turkey participated to the English lessons in these schools 3 times a week. They were primarily helping the teacher and the students on their weekly subjects. Besides that, by preparing various games and speaking exercises, we have incited their active learning skills in English which we find it priceless for the kids of that age.
Apart from the direct inclusion on their current learning progress, our main objective is to promote intercultural atmosphere for the local students and create an opportunity for them to further develop their humanistic values such as empathy and toleration towards people from different cultures. We believe that the process was empowering for both our volunteers and students in terms of enrichening their soft and hard skills.
We are thankful to the teachers, our volunteers and all the dear students for making this scheme possible and memorable. Hope to see everyone at the beginning of the next school year.
